All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi will kickstart the party’s campaign at Kanyakumari on March 13. Confirming the programme, Congress state president K S Alagiri said leaders of their alliance, including DMK president M K Stalin, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, VCK founder Thol Thirumavalavan and leaders from parties such as Indian Union Muslim League and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi will share the stage with Rahul.
He was addressing party cadres at a preparatory meeting at Nagercoil on Thursday. Alagiri told reporters that the alliance with the DMK had been sealed and talks on allotment of constituencies and candidates would begin in a couple of days. He was hopeful of completing talks before the meeting to be chaired by Rahul Gandhi at Kanyakumari.
Party spokesperson Khushbu said the party’s victory march would start from Kanyakumari and go all the way to Delhi. “We should strive hard to make Rahul Gandhi the next PM,” she said and added that Rahul always highlighted the Congress unlike the BJP for whom Modi was first.
